Gabi and Thierry, captured on 35mm film

Gabi and Thierry’s wedding day was full of personal details and special moments. Gabi, a talented florist in the wedding industry herself, wanted her wedding to be personal, fun, and romantic- with a classic relaxed summer garden party feel. The couple spent time curating their wedding details to remember those that could no longer be with them, like Gabi’s dad who left her a handwritten note before he passed. The bride also wore customised bridal pyjamas and slippers with her new last name.

They also chose to share the love that they have for their two dogs. Their dogs featured on wedding stationary throughout the day, and also spent the day with the couple as guests wearing their beautiful ivory collar bows.

Chaucer Barn is an exclusive use wedding venue in Norfolk and it was down to the couple and their family, friends and Bianca from the wedding team to bring their vision to life. They dreamed of a classic summer English garden wedding- it almost didn't happen the way they imagined, because up to an hour before the ceremony it was raining. But as if somebody was looking down on them (likely Gabi’s dad), the clouds cleared and the sun came out for them to have the wedding they dreamed of. The couple and their family and friends enjoyed a garden ceremony surrounded by Gabi’s beautiful flowers. The wedding day was full of life and love from start to finish, intentional in design, and moments. The roaming brand kept everybody dancing in the garden up until it was time to sit down for speeches. Both the bride and groom did speeches thanking their friends and family for being with them on their special day. The couple first met online a number of years ago and told funny stories of their life together over the years, finally glad to celebrate their love on their wedding day, just how they’d always wanted. Gabby and Thierry honoured some wedding traditions but also chose to celebrate their love in their own relaxed way.

Thierry chose a summer inspired wedding suit with specially designed loafers. Gabbi’s wedding dress was modern bridal, fun and full of natural movement, I loved capturing the tulle sleeves and the beautiful long veil that appeared made for wedding days like this and came to life whenever she moved.

The wedding was captured on digital and also 35mm film, with a true to colour warm edit to bring out the summer garden wedding colours. My wedding photography approach was rooted in intentional storytelling, documenting memories and emotion with candid artistry, and with a modern approach. I spent time with Gabby and Thierry on the lead up to their wedding, to understand the vision for their gallery and how they wanted their photos to feel and blended this into my approach when capturing their day.

As a wedding photographer, my advice to couples who are planning a wedding is to spend time thinking about how you want your wedding to feel. Create a day that feels aligned with you both and what is important to you. Garden weddings are so beautiful, especially in the summer months, but consider a back-up plan for your ceremony location incase the day brings rain, as it often does in UK summers!
