HOW TO PLAN YOUR FESTIVAL BOHO-INSPIRED WEDDING
Updated: Jul 12, 2021

So, you’re planning your perfect wedding, and you’re intrigued by a theme that’s, well, a little different from the traditional all-white. Introducing, Festival Boho.
Let‘s start with the basics, what is Boho? The term “boho” is short for bohemian which typifies the style of free-spirited personalities of the ’60s. An era of freedom, artistic exploration, and expression. Think beautifully natural and flowy styling with earthy tones and mixed textures.
Now collide that relaxed and whimsical styling with festivals. You only have to search #Coachella on Instagram and you’ll see the perfect examples of a Festival Boho Style. Coachella styling makes headlines across the world. But how do you turn this styling into your wedding theme?
A team of incredibly talented suppliers (including Bobby the Shetland Pony) came together to bring this concept to life, and inspire you in your wedding planning process.
Explore my top four tips and my gallery to help you plan and create your own Festival Boho Inspired Wedding.

Tip 1. Styling and Decor
Establishing your colour and texture palette is key. Earthy tones, paired with macrame, textured cloths, and wooden features create a signature boho look. A beautiful arch with flowers and cloths are the perfect addition to your ceremony styling. I'm a fan of dried flowers, I love the variety of textures and tones seen in the ceremony area, table decor, and this stunning bouquet. The varying heights on the tablescape create stunning dimensional elements whilst eating, with items from the day and evening set up being interchangeable for ease on the day. The talented Adele from Bunting and Willow Weddings alongside Sophie from Lilac and Wild styled this shoot to perfection!
Tip 2. Styling You
The talented Claire Shiner (Hair and Make-Up Artist) was on hand to create the perfect Festival Boho Bride look(s). What does every Coachella idolizing bride need? Two looks of course. A day and evening look are becoming more popular at weddings. Start your Festival Boho wedding style off with a beautiful loosely wavy and curly down-do with textured plaits and a stunning dried flower headpiece. As for the evening reception, switch it up with a loose up-do. Soft smoky brown eyes are perfect for your ceremony, and by the time evening comes around, just like at a Festival, dare to be daring and switch it up with a little spice, achievable with face paints and glitter. As for the dress that stole the show, the Hedren Wedding Dress from Pronovias supplied by Lavelle Bridal Couture is the dress that every boho lover needs. Look for dresses with a full tulle skirt, this beautifully light material created the most stunningly whimsical movement shots, ready for your first and final dance of the evening. And for when it gets a little chilly at the party, a bespoke tasseled jacket to finish the look.
Tip 3. The Vibe
Your wedding styling obviously contributes to the vibe of your wedding. But, your venue choice is important too. What matches the vibe for Festival Boho? An outdoor Tipi Wedding Venue. Newlands Bishop Farm in Solihull, UK, has it all. A romantic woodland ceremony space, a stunning orchard for portraits, and the Tipi provides the perfect backdrop when the party starts. A wedding with a relaxed theme deserves a relaxed dinner choice, like pizza and beer. Consider a mobile Pizza Van like The Wedding Pizza Company who can arrive at your venue, and cook you fresh pizza that's a guaranteed hit with your guests! To cleanse the palette, a sunset cake with beautiful soft earthy tones designed by Deliciously Divine.
Tip 4. Your Photographer
When searching for your Wedding Photographer, there a couple of things to consider. Does your vibe, match their vibe? Does their style and editing connect with you? And do they capture the all of the details of your day so that you can remember them forever?
I LOVE to tell a story with my wedding galleries. I keep most of my photos natural using prompts and minimal direction. But, I also love the odd portrait that has an editorial feel. I'm a firm believer in capturing you and your partner in a way that reflects your personality, if you’re both silly, then why not dance like crazy? If you’re cuddly, why not snuggle up on the grass together? I help you to both feel comfortable so that you and your partner can confidently be yourselves on your wedding day.
